It’s a nice little celebration moment for me at the end of a challenging year. I recently completed the Homestar Designers course with the NZGBC, and I am now a Homestar Designer!

It's been something I have been waiting for a long time to complete. The course really has helped me focus and sharpen my architectural design skills to produce better built and healthier homes for my clients. We have been told for years that our NZBC (New Zealand Building Code) is performance-based, but acceptable solutions still held the way for an easier compliance process and there was little information in the Code on how to assess an individual designs with relatively accuracy, ease and lower risk. As we see an awareness rise in Energy Efficient, Thermal comfort and ventilation, the tools put out by NZGBC (New Zealand Green Building Council) BRANZ and PHANZ (Passive Haus Institute of New Zealand) can only be used more for more accurate evaluation and demonstration of compliance.

This is a fantastic tool that really is going to help me make performance-based design decisions that can only benefit every occupant of the homes I design going forward. I am excited to start implementing all of this into my architectural design. The Tool is area dependant and draws on local climate data, empowering you to make decisions that are specific to your site and your requirements. Whether you are wanting an architecturally designed home in Te Awamutu, Raglan, Hamilton, Cambridge, Morrinsville or Waikato surrounds, this is a powerful addition to my service that can only improve the specific performance nature of your ultimately built home.

So if you are interested in how Homestar can help you with your home, make it more comfortable, healthier and even open up doors with lending criteria in banks, book a complimentary chat with me, Sharon, in the new year and we can see how this can benefit you.
