The owners of this 1970s architectural gem fell in love with the Architectural style of this building. It was important to them, that while the gully house was adapted to suit their family needs and aspirations, the original character (which first caught their attention) be honored.

The house has the uncharacteristic challenge of using up space, rather than making space work very hard, The existing footprint of the house was quite large, but the spaces didn't flow into one another like we need them to for our modern-day living. The annex which has been converted into a secondary dwelling had over time a few interventions installed that made it boxy and impractical.

The aspirations where to open up and upgrade the existing kitchen which was small and out dated. The bedroom wing had had multiple renovations to make it suited as a half way house and the bathroom needed some serious attention.

Its not often that the Architectural challange is too much space, but this home provided lots of it, but the spaces needed better relocation and connection to suit a modern familys daily lifestyle.

The aspect to the gully had also been largely uncapitilised on, so it finding ways to connect the house to it was important.

This project was always to be a multi step process, with the Annex being converted as an Air BnB setup to secure future income.
