The First Step - Design Consultation

Some people ask me how long to draw plans. Plans are actually a set of instructions that an Architect or Architectural Designer creates for the Builder, so that your vision can be realized.

So before we talk plans, lets talk about what you are wanting to create.

Ideas and visions always work in our head, but there are a number of factors that we need to work through, to ensure the successful realisation of your vision.

Many of my clients underestimate the impact of balance the various factors influencing their project at conception stage.

Every site in New Zealand is different, we need to check the planning requirements specific to your project to ensure that we aren’t adding unnecessary cost and process to your project.

We need to establish your project budget. Most people only think about the cost to build, but there are other costs that you need to factor in, like consultant, consent and design fees.

Aspirations are things we all get excited about, so we need to but this in perspective with the budget so that they can get realised.

What you are planning to do affects the consultants and their costs on your project.

And the steps in the process and the people you need to engage affect the timeframes. We want to establish a project plan that outlines the whole project, not just a part of it.

Its my aim to make the design process flow as smoothly as possible for my clients. That’s why I start my process with a Design Consultation. An informed brief means the design is heading down the right path from the start. This reduces re-design costs and delays.

Its my job to make it happen for you.
